The mission of the Firefly Academy of Wicca and Witchcraft:

  1. To offer online classes, workshop, and information on religion and personal growth, focusing on Wicca, Witchcraft, Paganism, and related topics, but open to all religions.
  2. To offer an online clergy program with requirements for ordination.
  3. To plan and promote online social activities for the community, including chats, rituals, forums, etc.
  4. To provide online community resources, including, but not limited to databases, calendar of events, publications, etc.

On October 16, 2006, the Academy opened its doors to new students for the first time.

SELF-MOTIVATION

Half of the courses offered here do not have prerequisites. However, the Wicca sequence offers self-dedication and self-initiation options for students who wish to take them. The purpose of these options is to give students more of a community or coven feel to their education. Though many of the students here will practice as solitaries, building a small heirarchy will foster elders and enrich the metaphysical experience for everyone.

After Wicca 1, students will have the option to perform a self-dedication ritual. This ritual is merely a promise to yourself and the Goddess that you will continue to study her path, though this promise is not to be taken lightly.

Dedicants (as well as non-dedicants who have completed Wicca 1) will then continue on to Wicca 2. At anytime after Wicca 1, a student can choose to dedicate themselves to further study on their path. The same holds true for initiation. If a student does not feel ready to initiate, then he/she is more than welcome to hold off until ready. Each person travels at a different pace on a different path.

After the completion of Wicca 3 and the requirements for our priesthood, students will then have the option to self-initiate. Initiation is a rite of passage, in which a student has reached a certain level of undertanding of the mysteries of the universe. Initiates are also called priests/priestesses, and take on an additional level of responsibility and awareness.

THE FUTURE

We are pursuing status as a non-profit religious organization. We are also developing our clergy training program. For more information about what the future holds for TFA, visit The Firefly House.
